A week's worth of things to do around Tulsa with your kids in July

My little cousins came up from Texas to spend a week with my mom so the girls and I packed up and joined my mom on the little adventure. This is what we did ALL week, we got some pretty good deals along the way as well!

On Monday Purple Glaze Studios offers a free studio fee so we took advantage of that and let the kids be little artists.
Miss Mads painted a cheer frog and gave it to her Megs
Emma painted an "E" and gave it to her mom
Simon painted some sort of dragon and also gave it to his mom
After we were all finished we had lunch then headed over to Uncle Rob's fire station. What kid doesn't love seeing a fire truck up close and personal? Well mine if you mention water for some reason! lol Once she knows for sure that you will not be shooting water out she is ok. We were even able to go for a short ride, we pulled out of the driveway and pulled back in on the other side. lol But the kids loved it. Contact your local station to set up a tour for your kids.

Tuesday we went to see Kung Fu Panda at the Riverwalk theater for FREE! They have a free summer movie program with show times two times a day.
After the movie we went to Maggie Moo's for YUMMY ice cream then let the kids play at the splash pad, they had a blast! Simon could not get over the fact that we let them play in the water in their clothes (I brought dry clothes with us of course)!

That night we went to see the play Oklahoma at Discoveryland. WHY they only do this show in the HOT summer and not the spring or fall is beyond me! Oklahoma + July + Outside = HOT! Once the sun set it was not bad at all but until then it was almost unbearable. While I love this show I do not recommend going with children under the age of 8 or 9. It is a 2 hour wait until intermission and even with my little girl that loves to watch people dance and sing that was a bit long to ask her to sit. We had front row seats which were great! Before the show starts they have singers and dancers that keep the crowd entertained. To our surprise the dancers come out to the audience and ask people to dance. Emma and Madison got to dance with them! It was so cute!

Wednesday was by far my FAVORITE day! We toured the Blue Bell ice cream play in Broken Arrow! You take a short tour and get to see just how they make the yummiest stuff on earth THEN you go back to the Country Store and get FREE samples!! YUM! It does cost to do the tour but it is only $2 for adults and $1 for kids and seniors, children under 5 (I think it is 5, it may be 3 or 4) are free. Kids get one scoop and adults get two. I sampled their newest flavor, Blackberry Cobbler, it was SOOOOO good! The rest of the day was spent outside enjoying the hole in the water hose.

Thursday was spent at home, other than mom taking all of us girls for pedicures. After that the kids played outside more and I went to therapy, shopping therapy that is.

Friday we went to the Kiefer fireworks show. You can see some of the 2008 show here, nobody has this years uploaded yet. The Kiefer show is by far the BEST show around. For such a small town they sure know how to put on a show! They average around 20,000 people every year I believe that come in to watch the show, the town's population is around 1000!! If you have not been and get the chance to go sometime I recommend sitting in the park, nothing like being RIGHT there!

On the 4th we grilled burgers and dogs and just visited. Oh, that afternoon we did take the kids to play Glo Putt. It was pretty fun.

All in all we did a lot of fun things but next year I think I will just go down for the Kiefer show. The kids about drove me NUTS! lol
